    201433日,印度耶稣会神父,钦奈(Chennai)洛约拉学院(Loyola College)文化与宗教对话研究所执行所长(the executive director of the Institute of Dialogue with Cultures and Religions)文森特•赛和(Vincent Sehhar)教授在中国人民大学发表学术演讲,题目是“印度的哲学与伦理议题:印度教、耆那教和佛教”。在演讲中,赛和教授纵论印度文化的多样性,他从印度教、耆那教和佛教的传统出发,对若干重要概念的历史背景、内涵与现代挑战做出系统的阐述,这些概念包括:多元化、分化、业力、预定论、现代性、世俗主义、民权,等等。赛和博士的演讲引起了热烈的讨论。我所专职研究员、哲学院副院长、国际佛学研究中心主任魏德东博士主持讲座,我所何光沪教授、惟善副教授评议,中山大学梅谦立(Thierry Meynard)教授等学者、学生30余人出席了讲座。

赛和博士学术简历:
Vincent Sekhar is a Jesuit priest from India. His doctoral thesis was on Dharma in Early Brahmanic, Buddhist and Jain traditions. He is a rare Christian and a Jesuit priest to have done doctoral studies in Jain religion and philosophy and, on account of that, he has initiated Jain-Christian dialogue in the Indian Catholic tradition. He holds Master’s degrees in Sanskrit from Madras University and Contextual Theology from Vidyajyoti College of Theology, Delhi. He did post-doctoral researches on Religion and Politics in Secular India and Religious Texts on Ecology as Visiting Fellow at Woodstock Theological Center, Georgetown University, Washington DC. He taught in Fordham University, New York, and lectured in Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs, Georgetown University, Washington DC.
At present, he is the Executive Director & Dean of Research in the Institute of Dialogue with Cultures and Religions (IDCR), Loyola College, Chennai, a Ph.D. Research Institute on Comparative Religion and Culture, affiliated to the University of Madras. He guides doctoral research at Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), Gurukul Lutheran Theological College and Research Institute, Chennai. He is on the Board of South Asia Theological Research Institute (SATHRI) of Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College (BTESSC), Serampore, WB and Tamilnadu Theological Seminary (TTS), Madurai and serves in their doctoral committees. He is also the Director of Campus Ministry of Loyola, Chennai. He was recently appointed for the second time Secretary for Interreligious Dialogue in the South Asian Jesuit Assistancy.
Earlier, he served as Controller of Examinations and teaching Faculty in the Dept of Philosophy in Arul Anandar College (Autonomous), Karumathur, and was training the staff and students of the Department of Religion and Value Education in teaching-learning religions. He continues to be a resource person in the areas of Indian Philosophy, Religion, and Culture, Interreligious Relations, and areas related to Examinations/Evaluations, Research Methods, Motivation, Competence, and Personality Development.
He has published the following books and his articles, close to fifty, have appeared in several reputed journals. His books include Religions, Ecology, and Environment – Sacred Texts that Shape Perspectives (August 2012), Building Strong Neighbourhoods – Religion and Politics in Secular India (2008), Practice of Interreligious Dialogue – A Formation Manual of Education and Training of Clergy and Religious (2006), Religions in Public Life – A Practical Guide to Religious Harmony (2004), Dharma in Early Brahmanic, Buddhist, and Jain Traditions (2003), and Quest for Harmony: An Anthology of Religions in Dialogue (2002) and two other in Tamil language.
