Richard Gombrich (理查德.贡布里希)教授简历

 

"Richard Gombrich taught Indian religions and languages for 40 years at Oxford University. He was Boden Professor of Sanskrit 1976-2004.  He was born in London in 1937, into a musical family from central Europe.  He loves both teaching and doing research. His greatest interest is in Buddhism and Pali (the language of Theravada Buddhist scripture); he has been President of the Pali Text Society and has lived in a Sinhalese village. His main research has been into the anthropology and the early history of Buddhism; he has published 20 books and 150 articles. In 2004, when he reached mandatory retirement, he founded the Oxford Centre for Buddhist Studies (www.ocbs.org), and is still its Academic Director and the editor of its Journal.”

理查德。贡布里希教授， 在牛津大学执教40余年，教授印度宗教及语言。1976年至2004年是梵文波顿教授（Boden Professor of Sanskrit－1832年牛津大学设立的专项梵文教授席位）。 贡布里希教授1937年出生于伦敦，源自中欧的著名音乐世家。 贡布里希教授热爱教育及研究事业。尤其真爱佛法研究及巴利文（佛教上部座经文原文语言） 。贡布里希教授一直任职巴利文协会主席，曾居家于僧伽罗人（“ Sinhalese”）村庄 。 贡布里希教授的研究着重于人类学，及早期佛教历史；发表过20部专业著作及150篇专业论文。 2004年，当贡布里希教授法定退休之际，创立牛津佛学研究中心（www.ocbs.org），现任职其学术主任，及专业杂志编辑。
